Window to the Sun

In the cold, gray winter of Central New York, you can get to a point where you honestly believe you may never see the sun again. This is a rough place to live if you have Seasonal Affective Disorder.

These earrings I call "Window to the Sun." The hammered tops make me think of those heavy gray clouds, kind of flat and threatening looking, that so often inhabit the winter sky. All of a sudden, they can get a little hole in them and what do you know? There's the sun peeping through, reminding you that it really does still exist.

These are sterling silver, fine silver and use a Korean technique called Keum Boo, in which the 24K gold which comprises my "sun," is fused to the fine silver back sheet of the earrings.
